The Montgomery Beautification Committee Floral Display Contest judges have chosen 31 homes to recognize for their plantings and beautification effort.
Award winners received a letter signed by Village President Matt Brolley and Beautification Chair Stan Bond, along with a colorful yard sign to display throughout the month of August.
To follow is a list of this year’s award winners.
According to Beautification Committee Chairman and Village Trustee Stan Bond, the committee is already making plans to conduct similar competition in 2015.
“The flowers our residents plant help beautify our neighborhoods and the entire village. We appreciate those efforts and seek to both encourage and recognize them,” Bond said.
“Colorful and natural beauty, such as provided by our plantings and our shorelines are one of the many reasons people say Montgomery ‘feels like home’ to them,” Bond added.
Members of the Beautification Committee include Mike Pubentz, Patti Bulat, Martha Larson, Tom Yakaitis, Brett Schaefer, Nancy Tranby, Marion Bond, Robin Strait and Judy Brown.
Other Montgomery Beautification Committee programs include the flower plantings along Mill Street Bridge, hanging flower baskets and banner displays throughout the downtown area, refurbishing of entryway signs to the village, construction and oversight of 90 bluebird houses placed in the village’s natural areas, and the holiday decoration awards program. The Beautification Committee meets on the third Wednesday at 6 pm in Village Hall. The public is welcomed to attend and join in the committee’s activities.
